Individualised Writing Clinics
Every morning, we choose between milk or tea or coffee. Usually, I know what I like, but I don‘t rule out changing my idea sometimes. The editing process is one of the most important parts in everyday life. The same is with my work: ´mistakes´ are part of the decision-making process. – Maurizio Cattelan, visual artist, curator & publisher
As literary studies academics, we´ve grown up knowing that few higher educational spaces dedicatedly “teach” budding scholars how to write with clarity and flair, let alone encouraging creative experimentation with diverse narrative forms and style.
Over the years, we´ve also been noticing an increase in paid services that offer academic writing assistance.
While these editing businesses address a particular demographic, they are of limited help in the long-run in self-reflectively helping students and early career scholars to develop and hone their own writing craft, whether it be academic expression or for more creative formats. At times, individuals may find themselves locked in a cycle of having to rely on editing professionals to undertake more basic textual tasks in manuscript preparation. While the use of AI software as a writing aid gains increasing popularity, one still requires a nuanced, foundational understanding of rhetoric, syntax, style, tone, and voice in being able to discern the quality of a machine-processed text.
Our one-on-one individualised English language clinics get your working on your own text, together. All hands on deck, and these sessions encourage you to retain your own unique voice and to build upon your existing strengths.
At the same time, we assist you in becoming a more confident writer, cognizant of your recurring blindspots, those pesky grammatical errors, stylistic quirks, alongside other idiosyncrasies that you may wish to work on.
We assist both so-called ´native´ language users as well as those who take English to be their second/third languages.
We offer a free 15 minute consultation, with which you could work on a given text of your choice.
