General Coaching
Universities and centres of learning are inherently hierarchical and bureaucratised spaces. At best, they foster cultures of wellbeing, pastoral and emotional care. Contemporary universities around the world continue to be resource-strapped, and are often barely equipped to handle the sheer numbers of staff and students in need of counselling, guidance, or simply – a confidential, respectful listening ear.
Moreover, alienation and other challenges faced by BME/BIPOC scholars and students are often rendered as inconvenient non-issues. Many yearn for real inclusion in spaces of immense diversity, feeling uncannily “othered” in the subtlest yet most pervasive of ways.
Our hope is to reach some of the most underserved early career scholars and students in the European academic sphere, and around the world.
We are happy to arrange coaching sessions by video conference or phone.
Sessions are organised individually, either by 30 minute or one hour slots.
Our current mentoring and coaching model is on a pay-as-you-can basis.
We offer guidance on the following issues:
- Practical guidance and emotional support through your thesis or PhD dissertation;
- Time management
- Guidance on interpersonal interactions with team leads, supervisors, and other colleagues.
What this service is not
Our coaching does not replace conventional supervision otherwise obliged by your academic advisor. We are not trained therapists and we do not assist on clinically diagnosed mental health issues (e.g. depression, PSTD etc.), nor issues of a legal nature. We encourage that you seek appropriate professional assistance.
See if we fit! We offer a free 15-minute consultation to get to know one another (booking via the Contact page).
